These camps include individual positional play stations with coaches and players to learn in an extremely small group setting to sharpen fundamental as well as more advanced positional skills, hitting drills that our current players do to improve their game, as well as ensure that each player is getting to play two games.  Please note that during game play balls will often be hit at 65+ mph and the coaches reserve the right to alter enrolled positions for the safety of our participants.

All-Skills Camp

 

Wed-Thurs

June 19-20, 2019

 

9:00am-3:00pm

 

Ages 7-10, 11-14

 

These will be two separate camps run at the same time dividing players based on age.  Please notes that each camp is a Fundamental based camp.  It is designed for the beginner level softball player.  There will be both offensive and defensive instruction geared towards teaching the basic fundamentals to those softball players with minimal experience.  There will be a one hour lunch break each day (lunch not provided), and please note that with this camp occurring at such a warm time of year here that half of the camp will occur indoors.  The indoor football field will be utilized to accommodate a quality camp amidst the high temperatures.

Softball Skill Work Features:

 

(PLEASE NOTE: These are examples of things that may be offered.  There is no guarantee that these specifics will be addressed.  Pitching and Catching will only be covered in our Advanced Camps.  Campers may take part in ANY section of the skill work that is applicable to their position and are NOT required to take part in all drills. A sample of camp drills can be found below.)

 

-Offensive Drills (swing mechanics, generating power, situational hitting, the short-game, increasing quality at-bats, hitting off of pitchers, etc)

 

-Defensive Drills (glove work fundamentals, position specific drill work, primary defensive position skill development, secondary defensive position skill devel­opment, increasing throwing velocity & accuracy, situational defense, arm care, etc)

 

-Catching Drills (catching fundamentals: receiving/framing, blocking, increasing throwing velocity & accuracy, situational defense, building the umpire-catcher & pitcher-catcher in-game relationships, catching for pitchers during portions of camp)

 

-Pitching Drills (pitching fundamentals, increasing pitch velocity, mastering the change up, taking pitch movement to the next level, the mental game, pitching to catchers during portions of camp, arm care, etc)

 

-Base Running Drills (base running fundamentals, situational base running, sliding, etc)

 

Items to Bring:

-Bat

-Batting helmet with a facemask

-Batting gloves (optional)

-Fielding glove

-Cleats &/or turf shoes or sneakers (Metal cleats will not be permitted in the batting cages.)

-Catchers should bring their own gear.

-Additional softball equipment: hat/visor, face mask, mouth guard, sunscreen, etc
